Therapist Profile: Ailia Barnwell

NO HANDS Therapist, Ailia Barnwell, practices from her beautiful treatment room overlooking the English Channel from beautiful Cornwall. First qualifying in 1998, she started her NO HANDS training 14 years later in 2012…

I’d been looking for a massage course to reduce the strain in my hands and wrists when I happened to receive a marketing call about NO HANDS Massage. I was intrigued and went along to an introductory talk and demo in Exeter with the founder, Gerry Pyves. I listened and watched with fascination and afterwards, FELT the most wonderful soft, slow compression on my back from Master Ella Pyves (nee Severynen). My training followed in the year of 2012 and NO HANDS has been integral to my life ever since.

Before NO HANDS I was practising Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage and Facial Rejuvenation. I was inspired by Eastern modalities such as Shiatsu and Ayurvedic Massage. So when this zero-strain, safe, globally integrated approach came along it was a natural next step. Not only has it transformed my work but profoundly influenced my life.

I run my clinic in the coastal village of Portwrinkle in the Rame Peninsula, Cornwall. As well as my regular clients I sometimes get people booking in on holiday. They then have the option of linking up with a NO HANDS practitioner in their home town using the ‘Find a Therapist’ tool.
