Although it would have been nice to tie in with the official Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness week (which finished on December 7th) nothing will stop a NO HANDer getting geeky about the colon!
One of the key things about NO HANDS as an approach is the core philosophy of systemic. This is the idea that we’re not separate parts (an arm, a leg, a liver…) but we’re an interconnected whole – so if there’s a problem in one part of our body, it will have a knock on impact on all of the body. Likewise even when we’re massaging the back, the hands, arms, head, neck, feet, legs and glutes are likely all taking benefit from the Touch.
Some might call it a truly (w)holistic approach.
What this means for the colon is that although you may seek out a NO HANDS Colon* treatment because you’re suffering from a specific illness, like Crohn’s or Colitis, the NO HANDS Colon treatment may also be an excellent go-to for any number of reasons.
Not least stress: how many times does a young child have a tummy ache when they’re upset about something? We may not have the same body awareness as we grow older (in fact, we’re actively encouraged to ignore it) but despite that the impact on our tissues will be accumulating. Often as adults the physical symptoms only emerge when they’ve reached breaking point – and are impossible to ignore.
There are many NO HANDers who would merrily regale you on the benefits of the colon – and one of them is Karen Law:
“I love the Colon treatment! I’ll never forget my own first experience during NO HANDS ADVANCED Practitioner training in 2012: my belly just melted with the gentle touch. I literally felt my colon unravel later on that day. Tension and twists eased. As a therapist I love focusing on going slow, warming the tissues, being invited to go deeper, ‘listening’ through my arms… it’s such a powerful treatment. And every client has said it felt amazing!”
Like I say, we geek out when it comes to Touch!
* The NO HANDS Colon treatment is a uniquely naturopathic treatment of your colon, which allows your body to balance itself. Working gently and deeply, it allows the muscles of this major elimination organ to regain health. Gently strengthening the muscles in the walls of your large intestine is the simplest and most natural way to bring your tissues back to health. Your whole body’s health depends on the proper functioning of your bowels. With the use of clear hand signals you remain in charge of the session so we can work to the depth you are happy with.
