Day 7: The Principles & Practice of NO HANDS Massage

Cover of The Principles and Practice of NO HANDS Massage by Gerry PyvesOn Sunday (day 5 of advent) I talked about Rest. Yesterday (day 6 of advent) I talked about the wonders of the EARTH treatment for resting. Today I’m talking rest AGAIN – this time, something you can do from the comfort of your home or even your favourite “getaway” spot: READING.

Forgive me if I sound like an enthusiastic librarian at this point, but books – I mean, how awesome are books? Yes, e-readers are convenient, but for me, nothing beats getting your hands on a physical item, something that has been lovingly crafted, printed and dispatched direct to YOU. I mean, I’m a Massage therapist – of course I love the tactile stimulation of a real book!

Digital has a definite place in the world – and is incredibly convenient for many many things – but my “go to”reference books, my “before I fall asleep” books, my “oooh, I just want to look up that diagram…” books. Those books I want in hard copy. Even before I worked for NO HANDS I had several copies of the core texts so I could, quite literally, get my hands on them whenever I needed to.

And reading, not with a backlit screen, but words from a physical page, is such a shift from our usual rushing around – a real rest. The archetypal “I’m so looking forward to reading on my holiday” still rings true.

There are, of course, many many books you could read. And taking some time out to read and rest is something I ABSOLUTELY endorse. But if you’re interested in combining your restful reading with your interest in NO HANDS, the place to start is Gerry’s Principles & Practice of NO HANDS Massage.  The beauty of buying direct from us, rather than through a book seller, is that as well as the physical book you get the complete audio book too. Immediately. As soon as you click “pay”. Because sometimes even reading is more effort you want to spend – but lying back, be it on a sun lounger or curled up on the sofa under a blanket, and listening to the secrets of NO HANDS can be such a wonderful “time out”.

Because rest is Important.
